So what have I been up to?

Gaming. Driving. Running errands. Cooking. Gaming more. Seeing my relatives.

After this commissioned piece is done, I think I'm going back to short and sweet. Or maybe long and without deadlines - the type that can sit around without me having to bother continuing it if I don't feel like it, or vice versa. I like short stuff. I miss short stuff. I remember the days when I couldn't write anything long.

Fandom squeeage for me has died down a bit, which is bad. I'll regain it hopefully, slowly. I think it's the whole barrage of fic and season 2 of heroes that has - is - drowning me. I think I have an affinity for the rare pairings. Oh, of course I absolutely love the almost canon ones, but they really run me dry after a while. I usually never really write for them for long, or at all. Take House/Wilson for example. Two short request pieces, that's it. But I still continue squeeing at them in the episodes. Claude/Bennet is getting too... unrare (that is not a word, but common doesn't seem right in the context) for my taste. Damnit. But then again it's Heroes. Unless it's Mohinder/Alendrajo or something I don't think I'll be able to run very far from it.

I can't believe I wrote a Snake/Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid) when I was fifteen. Talk about weird. But honestly, after playing a bit of the sequels again I think I'm falling in love with it all over again. Somehow Snake/Otacon is looking postively lovely to me. Or can I not look at anything and see slash anymore? Downside is I can't afford buying the console and the game (and I'm terribly lousy at it), so I don't think I'll be ficcing for them anytime soon. I hate it when you just dive into a fandom and they come out with 23094820384 sequels. I can't follow it all, damnit! Like Final Fantasy 7. If they had just stopped it there it would be so much easier, but now I'm so very out of touch I can't write anything about it anymore. I think there's a fine line (for me, at least), between watching something and liking it so much you're writing fic for it, and chasing after a series or a games frantically because you are trying not to drop too far behind in the fandom. Which is why maybe I should reduce my number of fandoms anyway XD.

Wonder if I should try my hand at baking cookies for Christmas. Then again these few days I'll be so busy running around celebrating and eating I might not be able to do that xD. Oh the joy of Christmas.

Anyway, to round this up... a meme stolen from [info]futuresoon

Name a pairing/moresome from any fandom than you think I might know (or if you're brave, a fandom I don't know at all) and I'll write one sentence (possibly a very long run-on sentence) of how they spend a winter holiday together.

I know what you mean. I was thoroughly shipping Matt/Mohinder at the end of season one, but then... they moved in together, and everyone started loving them, and now it's getting boring. *sigh*

*laughs* I'm tempted to pull a CSI one on you again. *winks* But... no. I think I'll give you Zach/Lyle.

I absolutely love request sentences/drabbles, so I don't mind whatever you pull on me XD. Fic with a pairing I just can't write is another story.

--

Cinnamon and wood mingle in the air and Lyle inhales, feeling the scent dipping deep into his bleary mind as he shuffles bare-footed down the wooden staircase, only to find a familiar sleeping figure wrapped up on the couch and he walks over, snuggles into the tight space and kisses Zachary on the lips, tasting peppermint and sleep; it is two in the morning and his mother had let Zachary sleep over because he couldn't go back to his shouting family anymore, and Lyle thinks that it's the best package he could ever receive on a Christmas morning, although if his mother knew they were together all along she would have probably asked Zachary to sleep in the lockable basement instead.

Heee! So cute. *Grins* Love it.

I have problems doing drabbles, oddly enough. I need a bit more... depth, I guess. But I also hate doing long stories. *laughs* 300-800 words works best for me.

Welcome!

If you're in the mood you're allowed to request more than once. XD

Well, around 1k is just nice for me. Just that I always tend to go over.

Boy, this was hard. But I got two ideas anyway. Because I had two ideas and didn't know exactly which to write out, so here are both of them.

--

It's Claire's first Christmas with her family -- and both her biological and adopted fathers -- and she can't help but wonder when both of her fathers trudged in from shoveling snow (Angela wouldn't let her uncle Peter melt it off, what would the neighbours think), with Nathan sporting a broken nose and Noah a guilty look and a darkening bruise on his nose, both flushed and wet, that they were lying about accidentally whacking themselves on the nose with the shovels.

--

It's another Christmas away from home, from their families and Nathan thinks of the sacrificies, the lies he had to tell, missing the eggnog in front of the fireplace and watching the sleepy kids totter up early in the morning to tear at their presents even before breakfast; he knows Noah misses this too, but even as he curls his arm around the older man, hearing the muffled carols on television and the empty streets outside of the motel room, he tells himself at least he doesn't have to spend it alone anymore.

Awwww. I love them both. The last one is sweet, and the first... well, I can see that happening. *Grins*

Well thanks to season 2 that didn't look too scary xD For some reason I'm going to go with the less sweet pathway here.

--

This Christmas, the Haitian used his gift as a gift -- surely Mohinder would want to forget about those traumatic events of the past, to lead another life that didn't involve his father's obssessions and research; he strokes the sleeping man's forehead, a glass of water and a few aspirin ready by the bedside table, watching outside the window as the snow gently falls in New York and thinks of a new life for them together.

You mentioned Snake/Otacon, and so I must of course ask you for Snake/Otacon, because that is one of my secret joys and I hardly ever see it.

(The beta: I will be working on it right after I finish checking my friendlist today, no joke; I've been a bit busy, but now it is winter break and I am swimming in time.)

I didn't know you were a fan of MGS. Yay! One of my favourite games of all time. I love those Max Payne, MGS games, although I take forever to play through because I suck. The storyline reads just like a movie and you can really fall in love with the characters.

I only finished playing the first Metal Gear Solid and up to Stillman in Sons of Liberty (Pliskin doesn't do much here anyway), maybe a tiny bit of Metal Gear Acid before my cousin's PSP got stolen... so here's my narrow perspective of it.

--

Hal should be used to the cold now, after the freezing cold mornings in Alaska when 10 below zero was considered warm, but it didn't change the warm feeling that dipped deep into his stomach when Dave (his very own Solid Snake) wrapped his arms around him from behind as he was shivering whilst taking his coffee in front of the kitchen window in his bathrobe on that winter morning; all the missions, the impersonal conversations through the codec and the occasional glimpse of face in the battlefield... all they needed was just a touch on a winter morning in the silence.

Awwww, so sweet! I <3 those boys so much. I never played the games myself, actually--I would just watch my brother play them when I was younger. (This is basically how I came to be familiar with almost every video game I know.) And I never saw much of the second one, other than that 1) Snake and Otacon are so doing the Bonnie & Clyde thing and 2) Otacon was sleeping with his stepmother whaaa? Or something like that. But yes, excellent stuff.

Sleeping with... what? I know so far that he has a stepsister, but about the sleeping with his stepmother thing I have no idea. Then again I'm probably less than half an hour into the game. I'll probably bribe my cousin into letting me play a bit further next week. The first one I played twice, right after my cousin finished playing it about three times. I managed to borrow his console for a week that time and finished it. Currently his new console is un-lendable, so I'll probably have to steal one or two hours with it and that's it.

I watch my cousins play and end up playing some that I think are cool. Take resident evil for example... I always watch and never play.

The jock and the nerd. Why didn't I think of that before? XD

Well, something's going on with his stepmom. Maybe he was just in love with her. Maybe she was in love with him. WHO KNOWS. All I remember is, there was a bit where Otacon was talking about her and my eyebrows broke through the roof.

Mmmm, wait, I think later on the game he reveals that he had an affair with her. Also, there is a serious lack of good Snake/Otacon pieces damnit. I need something that doesn't assume them as partners from the beginning or have a relationship built totally on sex. Haven't found one yet.

May I have a hot Snake/Otacon with angst and h/c and hot sex and snark in it please? Oh, and good formatting and ICness. I likes.

I think I may have an affinity for Engineer/Super secret soldier pairings. There are... I think 3 of them on my secret guilty pairings now.

Yeah, pretty much all the ones I've found are Established Relationship, which is still okay as they are v. cute and well-written (and short, alas) but it'd be nice to find one that started from subtext...also I think if you whittle down the category to Fighter/Geek then pretty much half the pairings on the Internets belong to it. I can think of three off the top of my head (Jack/Daniel from SG-1, John/Rodney from SGA, Cain/Glitch from Tin Man) plus them, and I'm sure there are others.

I don't have anything against Established Relationship, but I find them quite boring. It's like I can sustitute any names into the whole piece and still come out with something logical and amazing. Whereas for the whole unrequited or well... unestablished, on the shaky ground type, there's a whole lot of subtext and characterisation there. It's like Claude/Bennet. It can never really work but it's always there. Maybe I just like conflict =.=

The hero (or heroine, whichever in the case) and the geek has been a popular genre among the het, why not slash? XD

Baking Christmas cookies! \o/ *snatches one*

Danny/Mac, CSI: NY :D

P.S. I just now thought of this. I've yet to send out your Christmas gift so it's going to be there late. But uh, didn't you move? I need your new address so you can actually get it. :P

Erm actually I've moved. Email me for my new address? triciasama (at) yahoo (dot) com. And a gift? You don't have to you know! Awwwe.

I haven't written Danny/Mac in ages. Which shouldn't be the case since I have a whole table of fic due for them for [info]psych_30. Tsk tsk at myself.

(I just realised that I didn't mention Danny at all in the first comment thing. Sorry. Reposted.)

--

It wasn't the drink or the strategically-placed mistletoe or the loneliness that brought Mac to bring Danny back to his apartment, drinking wine on the balcony and watching the snow fall onto the sleeping city below, talking about midnight mass and childhood traditions; maybe it was Christmas, maybe it was the season, or maybe it was just each other.

Danny/Mac is love even if I haven't seen the show in awhile. Tsk tsk at you indeed. :P

Awwww(really, that's what I said out loud)! I love it! ♥ Now they just need to curl up by the fireplace - if they have a fireplace of course. *g*

Danny and Mac... with Peyton and Lindsay around in canon it's gotten quite hard for me to actually dump them into a relationship without the whole OMGZ I'M GAY waking up thing. Just doesn't make sense. So it's either Established Relationship (which a ton of people like and I don't really like unfortunately), or the whole I'm attracted to you and I'm guilty because I owe it to Peyton/Lindsay and I still love them thing.
